Setting Up
Do I need to install anything?
No. SARA Connect runs in your browser on desktop and mobile. There's no app to download and nothing to install on your cameras.
Will this change anything about my Ring account or cameras?
No. SARA has read-only access to the cameras you authorize. It cannot change your Ring settings, delete recordings, or turn cameras on and off. You can pause or remove its access at any time from the Ring app.
How do I add or remove cameras?
Camera authorization is managed on the Ring side. Cameras you share with SARA Connect appear in the app on their own. Settings then Ring connection shows what is currently connected, and Manage cameras shows each camera's status and recent activity.
Do the people I add need a Ring account or the app?
No. Contacts receive a text, a WhatsApp message, or a phone call. They need nothing installed and no account anywhere.
Which channel should I use for whom?
WhatsApp messages arrive with a one-tap acknowledgement button and are unlimited on your subscription, so they make the best first rung. SMS works on any phone and has a monthly allowance. SARA voice calls (up to 3 minutes each) also have a monthly allowance. Save them for the rung that has to wake someone up.
Alerts and Escalation
What is the difference between a response plan and a notification?
A notification is sent once and forgotten. A response plan is a sequence: it contacts someone, waits, and if nobody answers it contacts the next person on the next channel until somebody does, or the plan runs out of stages. Every step is recorded in the event's incident timeline.
How do I stop the escalation once I have seen the alert?
Tap the acknowledgement button that arrives with the WhatsApp message, or reply to the SMS or WhatsApp message. ACK, ack, Ack, and ACK! all work. That cancels the rest of the chain immediately.
Why did my plan send every message even though I replied?
Check the stage's Acknowledgement setting. If it is set to No acknowledgment required, stages advance on their timers regardless of replies. Set it to Any one person is enough, and set Starts when on later stages to The previous stage is not acknowledged. That combination is what makes replies stop the ladder.
Does answering the phone count?
Not yet. Answering a SARA voice call does not currently register as an acknowledgement. If you pick up, also reply to the text so the chain stops.
Does reading the message count?
No. Delivered and read receipts are recorded, but only an actual reply stops the escalation. This is deliberate: a message reaching a locked phone on a nightstand is not a person responding.
What happens if nobody ever replies?
SARA works through every stage, sends a final alert to your contacts, and records the event as unacknowledged. If the plan has Human Monitoring switched on and the camera is enrolled, an operator reviews it at that point.
Can I stop getting messaged about the same thing over and over?
Yes, in the plan editor. Cooldown ignores repeats from the same camera and event within a set window, and Max alerts per camera per hour caps how often one camera can start the plan.
Can different people be on call at different times?
Yes. Create a schedule under Response then Schedules, then point your plan at it. You can also tick Use the on-call rotation so SARA moves to the next person when the first does not respond.
What happens outside my schedule's hours?
You choose, per plan: record the event without notifying anyone, run a different plan instead, or do not start the plan at all.
Why is my schedule showing times I did not set?
Schedules are stored in one timezone and displayed in your browser's. When those differ, SARA shows a banner on the Schedules page saying so. Your account timezone is under Settings then Account.
The Activity Feed
What do Needs attention, Notable activity, and Routine activity mean?
The feed sorts events into three bands. Needs attention is what SARA judged worth your time now. Notable activity is worth a glance, like a delivery driver or a doorbell press. Routine activity is everything else, collapsed so it does not crowd the feed. Everything is always recorded; the grouping only changes prominence.
What does the No response badge on an event mean?
Your response plan ran for that event and nobody acknowledged it. The incident timeline on the event shows exactly who was reached, on which channel, and when.
What is Mark as expected?
It tells SARA a kind of activity is normal for your home, like the dog walker at noon or the gardener on Thursdays. It never changes your response plan and nothing is hidden from your feed.
Why does an event have no picture?
Ring does not attach an image to every detection. SARA still records the event and everything it knows about it.
Can I watch the video?
Still images are always available. Recorded clips are fetched from Ring when you press play and require a Ring Protect plan. For live view, press Watch live on any camera.
Search
What can I ask?
Plain questions about time, camera, and what the camera saw. SARA answers from your real stored events and will not invent a time.
Why did my search find nothing when I know something happened?
Search matches against the written description SARA generated for each event, so an event with no description yet can be missed. Try fewer words, a camera name, or a different date.
Can I search for a specific person?
No. SARA does not recognize faces. It describes what cameras see but never identifies individuals.
Privacy and Your Data
Does SARA recognize faces?
No, by design. SARA describes what a camera sees, such as clothing, a dog, or someone approaching the door, but never identifies individuals. This is a deliberate privacy choice, not a missing feature.
Does SARA decide what is an emergency?
No. You do. SARA describes what it is seeing and applies the rules you set. Judgment stays with you.
Where are my images stored, and for how long?
Snapshots are stored in your RAD account for 30 days, then deleted. You can turn storage off under Settings then Data and privacy then Keep event images.
Can I get a copy of my data?
Contact Support, linked in the footer of every screen, and we will help.
Is my Ring password shared with RAD?
No. The connection is authorized through Ring, and your Ring credentials are never shared with RAD.
How do I disconnect completely?
Go to Settings then Disconnect Ring. SARA stops receiving events and no response plan can run. Your saved activity and contacts stay, and you can reconnect any time. You can also revoke access from the Ring app.
Pricing and Subscription
What does SARA Connect cost?
Your first camera is $9.99 per month and each additional camera is $4.99. Human Monitoring adds $19.99 per month and covers every camera on your subscription.
What is included each month?
Unlimited WhatsApp messages, a monthly SMS allowance, and a monthly allowance of SARA voice calls up to 3 minutes each. Usage meters on the Subscription page show where you stand, and allowances reset on your renewal date.
How do I update my card or get an invoice?
Settings then Subscription then Payment methods and invoices. Cards and past invoices are handled securely through Stripe.
What happens if I cancel?
Everything keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for, and you will not be charged again. After that, live view and monitoring switch off, and your recorded activity is kept for 30 more days.
Human Monitoring
What is Human Monitoring?
An optional service that puts a trained human at the end of your escalation chain. If a response plan runs out of stages without anyone acknowledging, an operator reviews the event and can contact police on your behalf.
Who are the operators?
Centralized Vision, a professional monitoring company contracted by RAD to handle escalations for plans that use this service. They are not RAD staff.
What can operators see?
Only events from cameras you have specifically enrolled, and only after your response plan finishes without an acknowledgement. New cameras are never enrolled automatically. Your dispatch details are stored encrypted and shown only to the operator handling an active alarm.
How do I turn it on?
Two parts: enroll the camera under Response then Monitoring then Camera enrollment, and tick Send unanswered alerts to Human Monitoring in your response plan. The plan also needs Keep trying until someone responds switched on.
What should I put in dispatch details?
The property's site name, a callback name and phone for whoever should be reached if police are dispatched, the verified service address, and anything an officer arriving on site should know. Make sure the callback name is the person who should actually answer that call, typically the account owner.
Does this replace a monitored alarm system?
No. Human Monitoring reviews camera events your household did not respond to. Alarm permits and verbal passwords are not supported at this stage, which can matter for police response in some jurisdictions. Check your local requirements.
Troubleshooting
Home says I am covered but I never got an alert.
Work down this list: is the plan Active rather than a draft? Does it cover that camera and that event type? Is a schedule limiting it to hours that had already passed? Has a channel allowance for the period run out? Then open Full history from the Response overview, which records every message SARA has sent on your behalf.
An event says a plan ran, but nobody was contacted.
Open the event and read the Incident timeline. It lists each stage, what was sent, and why the plan stopped, including delivery failures.
My cameras show as online but no new events are arriving.
Ring occasionally becomes temporarily unavailable. SARA shows a banner when this happens. Your cameras stay linked and stored activity remains available. New events resume automatically.
I was signed out unexpectedly.
Sessions expire for security. Sign in again and you will be taken back where you were.
Something looks wrong with a specific event.
Open the event and expand Event details. It carries the identifiers support needs to trace exactly that detection. Quote them when you get in touch. Support is linked in the footer of every screen.
